Eurograde 4 High Security Safes
Your insurance company may request for a certain level of protection or Eurograde standard to meet. Choosing a Eurograde 4 safe will no doubt highly satisfy your insurance surveyors.
Certified to EN1143-1
EN1143-1? - The European security standard for cabinets and security safes is EN1143-1. Extensive tests are commenced so that it will meet the standard of EN1143-1.
£60,000 Cash Rating - £600,000 Valuables Rating
When purchasing a safe it is vitally important that you calculate the insurance rating that you require to meet. The grade 4 has an insurance rating of £60,000 for cash and £600,000 for valuables. (A valuables rating is always ten times the cash rating).
A Eurograde 4 safe is perfect for storing large amounts of cash and high end valuables such as watches, jewellery and personal belongings.
Capacity and Size
In order to protect your cash or valuables in the best way, we always recommend to work out what type of size you require with external and internal dimensions. There is different sizes and models available in each range.
We would always suggest to over calculate what you require as in the future you might want to store additional amounts of cash or valuables.
*Please Note* When you measure the depth, please take into consideration the size of the external hinges, handles and lock size.*
Extra High Security Dual Locking
A Eurograde 4 is the first range out of the Eurograde safes to have dual locking on the safe. A normal selection for a safe would either be a key or electronic locking. With the Grade 4 it will be dual locking from a choice of the following –
- 2 x Key Locks
- 2 x Electronic Locks
- 1 x Key Lock 1 x Electronic Lock
Both locks are 2 EN1300 Class B Locks and provide extra security for when you store your cash or valuables.
If you are a business that has a number of employees that require regular access, then we would recommend to have the electronic locking options.
Fire Protection for Eurograde Safes
As the Eurograde level increases the quality and security of the safes naturally increases too. Most of the Eurograde 4 safes available will have burglary and fire protection included. Some may not have any fire rating on them, so always consider your requirements before purchase.
The most common fire protection levels for Grade 4 safes will either be 30 minutes or 60 minutes.
Insurance Approved
An insurance approved safe will always help when you are in contact with your insurance company about coverage and protection. Most of the safes available on the market will be approved by AiS (Association of Insurance Surveyors).
AiS are one of the leading accreditation companies within the UK.

Common FAQ's for Eurograde 4 Safes
1. What is a Eurograde 4 Safe?
A Eurograde 4 safe is a high-security safe certified to the EN 1143-1 standard, which tests resistance against burglary attacks. These safes are independently assessed by bodies like ECB•S or VdS, ensuring they meet strict European benchmarks. Grade 4 safes are ideal for protecting high-value items in both residential and commercial settings.
2. What is the Insurance Rating for a Eurograde 4 Safe?
In the UK, Eurograde 4 safes typically carry an insurance rating of £60,000 for cash and £600,000 for valuables. This rating is widely accepted by insurers, especially if the safe is AiS-approved (Association of Insurance Surveyors). Always confirm with your insurer, as installation and location can affect coverage.
3. What is the Cash Rating of a Eurograde 4 Safe?
The cash rating refers to the maximum amount of physical cash that insurers will typically cover when stored in the safe. For Eurograde 4 models, this is £60,000. For jewellery, watches, or other valuables, insurers often multiply this by ten—giving you a £600,000 valuables rating. Ratings assume proper installation and locking compliance.
4. What is the Best Eurograde 4 Safe?
The best Eurograde 4 safe depends on your needs—whether that’s size, locking type, fire protection, or budget. Popular models include:
- Chubbsafes DuoForce Grade 4 – dual locking, fire-resistant.
- Phoenix Planet HS6072K – compact, key locking, 30-minute fire rating.
- De Raat Prisma Grade 4 – available in key or electronic formats.
Look for features like AiS approval, dual locking, and bolt-down capability depending on your preferences.
5. Eurograde 4 Safe vs Eurograde 3 – What’s the Difference?
The key difference lies in the level of burglary resistance and insurance rating:
- Eurograde 3: £35,000 cash / £350,000 valuables
- Eurograde 4: £60,000 cash / £600,000 valuables
Grade 4 safes offer stronger construction and are better suited for high-risk environments or premium asset protection.
